Acrylic flow painting is a fun world of acrylic pouring! It is a unique, rewarding method of creating fascinating colorful abstract art. Be prepared to get hooked on flow painting … unlike other art forms, you get results right away. You may end up creating 10 or even more paintings in your first week!

We suggest buying a decent-sized kit to get started or get larger bottles of the more economical paints. You only need the basic colors. If the budget allows purchase  some of the specialty paints to add more variety …   glitters, pearls and metallics.

It is best to use pouring mediums to enhance the flow of the paint. A good acrylic medium won’t change the color or the finish of the paint. Mediums “thin” your paints and give you more time to work with them. Your medium won’t change the visual characteristics like water will.

Be certain to have plenty of paint and plenty of surfaces to practice on. Needless to say, the paints are the most important thing to have handy when you’re creating pours. You’ll want to have plenty of black and white — they get used the most.
